its 1 channel per axis

up + down = 1 ch
L + R = 1 ch
FORWARD + BACKWARD = 1 ch

3 channels all together

proper rc helecopters use 6 channels or more
for other things such as pitch and cyclic and roll

this is not 6 channels

4 channel := For your Ass
